Fitbits are increasingly popular wearable watches that keep you informed on how much exercise you're doing as you go about your day.

Highly sophisticated technology? Yes. Simple to set up? Not necessarily.

Some users are finding it difficult to work out how to set the date and time correctly on a Fitbit. Others want to switch from a 24 hour to a 12 hour clock format.

Here's how you can do it…

Basically what you need to do is reset your time zone so your Fitbit knows where it is.

There are four different ways to reset your Fitbit time zone, depending on whether you're doing it via the Fitbit app for IOS (iPhone), Android (Samsung), Windows 10 or via the FitBit.com dashboard.

For IOS

  • From the Fitbit app dashboard, tap the Account icon
  • TapAdvanced Settings
  • Under Time Zone, turn off theSet Automatically option
  • Tap Time Zone and select the correct time zone
  • Sync your tracker

For Android

  • From the Fitbit app dashboard, tap the Account icon
  • TapAdvanced Settings
  • Turn off theAutomatic time zone option
  • Tap Select time Zone and select the correct time zone
  • Sync your tracker

For Windows 10

  • From the Fitbit app dashboard, tap or click the Account icon
  • Tap or clickAdvanced Settings
  • Tap or clickTime Zone
  • Turn off theAuto option and select the correct time zone
  • Sync your tracker

From Fitbit.com dashboard

  • Log into your fitbit.com dashboard and click the gear icon
  • ChooseSettings >Personal Info
  • UnderAdvanced Settings, findTimezone and choose your time zone. Time zones offset by the half hour are not supported
  • ClickSubmit and sync your tracker

How to change to a 12 hour or 24 hour clock

  • Log into your fitbit.com dashboard and click the gear icon
  • ChooseSettings >Personal Info
  • UnderAdvanced Settings, findClock Display Time and select whether you want the time shown in 12-hour or 24-hour clock units
  • ClickSubmit and sync your device

And voila!

You and your Fitbit are in the same time zone.
